Q Gallery is pleased to present ‘OFF CONFINES’ an exhibition curated by Moses Ohiomokhare.
On view from March 24th- 13th April 2024. The exhibition will showcase two exceptional artists, Adeola Balogun PhD, and Popoola Nurudeen, who explore our cultural values and constructive differences through their art.
Dr Adeola Balogun is a famous mixed-media sculptor who has greatly contributed to the art community. He utilizes diverse media processes and concepts to portray his subjects' essence and stories. Media such as rubber tires, horseshoes, electronic panels, and sundry are what he uses to engage subjects as diverse as socio-political, cultural, natural, humanity, and survival in a multilayered dimension. Adeola is a graduate of Yaba College of Technology and a postgraduate of Delta State University Abraka. He has exhibited his works in Nigeria, Sweden, Arabia, the UK, the USA, and several other nations. He was the former head of the Department of Sculpture at Yaba Tech and he has truly enriched our creative world.
Popoola on the Other hand is a Nigerian artist who graduated from Yaba Tech Lagos where he studied Fine Art and majored in painting. His works explore the representation of human figures and expressions, telling their stories using vibrant and attractive colors. His subjects are predominantly painted in blue which symbolizes depth, stability, wisdom, faith, truth, and heaven. Popoola has participated in various exhibitions within and outside Nigeria, inclusive of the NOK exhibition in 2023, and Dak’Art Biennale Senegal 2022 amongst several others.
The idea of this exhibition is to enrich the experience of art lovers, enthusiasts, and collectors alike in the community and also to promote the narrative of open-mindedness, the exploration of new media, and creativity which breeds confidence, productivity, and growth.
